Real people training, competing, and thriving with Type 1 diabetes. Proof that a diagnosis is a starting line, not a finish line.

Why I Started Type 1 Unlimited

I'm Hugo, and I compete as a bodybuilder. Training is how I've figured out what my body can handle, so when I got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, I assumed that was the end of it. Everyone expected me to ease off. I didn't. I learned how to manage my blood sugar around my workouts and kept training for the same goals I had before. What I kept coming back to was how much of a head start I'd had. Experience, people in my corner, the money to figure it out. A lot of kids get diagnosed and just quit. They walk away from the sport that made them feel strong, usually because nobody told them they could keep going or helped pay for it. That's why I started Type 1 Unlimited. We cover the gym memberships, team fees, and gear that keep young people with Type 1 going, and we put them next to people doing the same thing every day. If you want to help fund the next one, you can do that right here.
